If you’re thinking, that does not sound like a small move, you’re right. Trader Joe’s is already in 42 states, which means only a handful still don’t have one at all: Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wyoming. So while the chain isn’t quite everywhere, it is getting harder and harder to say you’re being personally denied cauliflower gnocchi by the universe.
This latest expansion follows another busy stretch for the grocer. Trader Joe’s had already announced eight new locations earlier this year, after already opening around 30 new stores in 2025.
Opening dates for the 18 new stores have not been pinned down publicly yet, but according to USA Today, they’re expected to roll out within the next three to six months. So if your state made the list, now is probably the time to get your signature TJ’s insulated Tote Bag and start mentally preparing for a future that may include soup dumplings, seasonal ravioli, and the humbling realization that the cashier bagged 40 items better than you ever could.
