Darius Rucker Brings Big Band Gala to Charleston With Full Orchestra

Darius Rucker, the Grammy-winning singer known for his work both as a solo country artist and as the lead vocalist of Hootie & the Blowfish, is stepping into a different musical spotlight this spring with a special one-night performance backed by a full orchestra.

On April 7, 2026, Rucker will headline the Darius Rucker Big Band Gala at Charleston’s Gaillard Center. Rather than just revisiting his country catalog, he’ll be accompanied by the Robert Lewis Orchestra to perform classic standards and big-band style selections that reflect the music many fans grew up with.

Rucker has described these big band shows as some of his favorites, allowing him to dive into a repertoire far beyond his usual genre and to work with a rich orchestral sound. The event promises a unique, elevated concert experience, showcasing a different side of Rucker’s voice and musical range.

Beyond the performance itself, the Gala is designed to give back to Rucker’s hometown community. A portion of ticket sales will support music education initiatives in Charleston County Schools through the CMA Foundation. The event also benefits the Carolyn G. Rucker Nursing Scholarship at the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, honoring Rucker’s late mother.

Tickets for this exclusive concert are slated to go on sale Friday, February 20, 2026. Price tiers will vary and tickets will be delivered electronically ahead of the show.

Fans in Charleston and beyond have a rare opportunity to see Rucker reinterpret classic standards with a big band and orchestra in what is expected to be a memorable evening of timeless music.
