In a thrilling season opener, the Golden State Warriors edged out the Los Angeles Lakers 112–108, setting the tone for a new chapter in the Western Conference. The game showcased early signs that both teams are hunting for relevance, but it was Golden State’s composure down the stretch that sealed the deal.
Golden State’s early rhythm came from Stephen Curry, who poured in 28 points and dished 7 assists, demonstrating he’s still very much the backbone of the team. The Lakers were upbeat to start, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, yet squandered a few late-game possessions and committed several avoidable turnovers.
A turning point arrived midway through the fourth quarter when Golden State executed a 12-0 run, allowing the Warriors to climb out of a five-point hole and take command. Los Angeles never quite recovered, despite Davis’ double-double and LeBron’s veteran grace. The margin remained tight, but execution favored the visitors in the final minutes.
With the first win now in Steph’s back pocket, the Warriors look poised to build momentum. The Lakers, young core in tow, must regroup quickly if they hope to keep pace in a loaded West.
