Amid the rollout of his newest project UY SCUTI, Young Thug stirred conversation by admitting that he can’t recapture the carefree camaraderie of his 2019 era, when So Much Fun reigned. According to his recent remarks on The Pivot Podcast, he believes the climate of rap has become too fractured — “a lot of the rap n****s that’s your friends … a lot of them beefing with each other” — to allow for the same sense of unity and creative spontaneity.
Thug described So Much Fun as a time when “everybody was friends,” but says today’s industry tension makes that kind of synergy almost impossible. He also revealed that much of his energy now goes into attempting to mediate disputes — trying to “bring rappers back together that shouldn’t be divided.”
The shift he describes mirrors a broader trend: rap beefs are ascending once again, bringing with them divisions that disrupt the collective spirit of collaboration.
While Thug’s reflection is personal, it underscores a tension facing today’s artists — how to maintain brotherhood and creative freedom in a culture increasingly defined by conflict.
