The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards are shaping up to be one for the history books. Hosted solo by LL Cool J at New York’s UBS Arena on September 7, the ceremony delivers an electrifying fusion of pop icons and rising talent. Leading the night’s performances is Lady Gaga—returning to the VMAs after five years and topping the nominations with 12 nods as she promotes her Mayhem Ball Tour.
The main stage will also light up with dynamic acts including Doja Cat, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, Alex Warren, Jelly Roll, Conan Gray, Tate McRae, J Balvin with DJ Snake, and Sombr. But the night isn’t just about music—Mariah Carey will take home the prestigious Video Vanguard Award, marking her first Moon Person ever, and perform a career-spanning medley. Busta Rhymes will be honored with the Rock the Bells Visionary Award, while Ricky Martin receives the inaugural Latin Icon Award.
The VMAs also expand their horizon with a fresh stage experience: the Extended Play Stage features Bailey Zimmerman with The Kid LAROI, Lola Young, and Megan Moroney. Meanwhile, the pre-show—streaming across MTV and CBS networks—includes a debut performance from KATSEYE. This year’s VMAs promise a thrilling blend of nostalgia, recognition, and boundary-pushing performances—reminding everyone that the awards show remains a vibrant pop-cultural cornerstone.
