Miranda Lambert & Chris Stapleton Skate Back to the ‘70s in Nostalgic Duet “A Song to Sing”

In a vibrant celebration of classic country duets, Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton blend nostalgia and modern flair in their first-ever duet, “A Song to Sing.” Released to radio in July, the track is steeped in ’70s disco-country vibes, drawing clear inspiration from Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’s iconic “Islands in the Stream.”

Co-written with Jesse Frasure and Jenee Fleenor and produced by Dave Cobb, the single not only evokes a timeless romantic energy but also soared onto the charts—debuting at No. 20 on Billboard’s Country Airplay and becoming Lambert’s biggest streaming debut to date.

The music video, dropped in late August, brings the retro charm to life. Filmed at a roller rink just outside Nashville, Lambert and Stapleton don feathered cowboy hats and coordinate in browns under a heart-shaped disco ball—complete with quirky nods to their legends by wearing Parton’s earrings and Rogers’s lion necklace.

More than a duet, “A Song to Sing” feels like a shared love letter—to the genre, the artistry, and the golden era of country music. With two of its most authentic voices harmonizing, the result is pure, shimmering magic.
