‘Scary Terry’ Stays in the Capital: McLaurin Agrees to 3-Year, $96M Extension with Commanders

After weeks of speculation and offseason drama, Terry McLaurin has officially ended his holdout and committed his future to the Washington Commanders. The standout wide receiver signed a three-year contract extension valued at up to $96 million, including a hefty $30 million signing bonus, effectively locking him in through the 2028 season.

The average annual value of the deal—$32 million per year—places McLaurin among the top earners at his position, tying him with A.J. Brown for sixth-highest paid in the league.

Prior to this agreement, McLaurin’s offseason was marked by tension: he requested a trade, missed part of training camp, and was even fined while sidelined on the PUP list due to an ankle injury.

The timing of the deal couldn’t be more crucial. McLaurin will be back on the field in time for the season opener against the Giants on September 7, providing quarterback Jayden Daniels with his go-to target after a breakout rookie season.

With McLaurin’s contract situation resolved, the Commanders can shift their focus to building on last year’s success and leveraging a potent offense centered around their top receiver.
