Tyler, the Creator Scores Surprise No. 1 with “Don’t Tap the Glass”

Tyler, the Creator’s latest release, Don’t Tap the Glass, didn’t just make a splash—it shattered expectations. With only two days of promotion, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning 197,000 equivalent album units in its abbreviated tracking week ending July 24.

“Thank you to everyone who decided to check this out,” Tyler wrote on Instagram Stories, expressing gratitude to fans. “Announcing this two days before and it hit number 1 in such a short time means a lot. Tell folks about it!”

Released on a rare Monday, Don’t Tap the Glass joins a growing list of unconventional drops redefining album release strategy. This marks Tyler’s second off-cycle No. 1 debut, following Chromakopia last November, and the second in two weeks after Travis Scott’s Jackboys 2 achieved similar success.

While the album’s contents remain mysterious—its rollout devoid of traditional singles or promotional blitz—its chart-topping performance highlights Tyler’s evolving artistry and loyal fanbase. With no major label tricks, just raw creativity and trust in his listeners, Tyler has once again proven that good music finds its audience.

The message is clear: don’t tap the glass—just listen.
