Even legends slip up sometimes—just ask Harrison Ford, who still chuckles (and cringes) over the time he accidentally punched Ryan Gosling on the set of Blade Runner 2049. In a new Variety interview, the 83-year-old icon reflected on the 2017 incident with his trademark dry wit.
“We were rehearsing a fight and we got too close—I hit him,” Ford said. “I apologized right away. What more could I do? Can’t take back a punch.”
The punch, which occurred while filming a high-intensity scene, has become part of movie lore. Gosling, now 44, took it in stride, once calling it a “rite of passage” and even joking that being hit by Indiana Jones felt oddly validating. Afterward, Ford reportedly offered a peace treaty in the form of scotch—pouring Gosling one glass and walking away with the rest of the bottle.
“It’s not just a punch, though,” Gosling later said. “A Harrison Ford punch is a different animal altogether.”
Despite the bruised moment, Ford admits he actually enjoyed making 2049 more than the original—less rain, less night, and a lot more camaraderie. One punch aside, it seems their on-set bond was built to last.
