Jessica Simpson made her highly anticipated return to live television music with a performance on the Today show—though not without a little unexpected drama.
During her July 23 set, her first Today show performance in 15 years, Simpson dazzled in a strapless cream corset dress layered under a sparkly fringe jacket. But as she belted out a medley of her early 2000s hits, a wardrobe malfunction briefly stole the spotlight. A slip in her top revealed a flash of pink bra padding, but Simpson handled it like a pro—gracefully adjusting her outfit mid-song without missing a beat.
After the show, she laughed off the mishap with the Today hosts. “Of course I had a malfunction here and everywhere,” she joked, adding, “But it’s OK. I think my b**bs stayed in, so it’s OK.”
The performance was part of the Citi Concert Series and marked Simpson’s official return to music with the release of Nashville Canyon: Part 1, her first project since 2010.
Speaking earlier with Today With Jenna & Friends, Simpson shared how she silenced her nerves. “It’s just about being able to be up there and be vulnerable,” she said. “And that feels really beautiful.” Wardrobe glitch or not, her comeback is clearly a hit.
