Amanda Seyfried is proud to see her face on Mean Girls T-shirts — but she’s also calling out Paramount Pictures for allegedly leaving her out of the profits.
In a new Variety “Actors on Actors” segment with Adam Brody, the Mean Girls star opened up about the long-lasting cultural impact of the 2004 teen comedy and revealed she never saw a dime from the film’s massive merchandise machine.
“I really love seeing my face on people’s T-shirts,” Seyfried said, before dropping the bombshell: “I’m a little resentful because Paramount still owes me some money.”
Brody appeared stunned and asked if she meant the T-shirts. “For the likeness,” Seyfried clarified, saying her face appears on official merchandise sold in stores nationwide.
“Is it because I was 17 and dumb?” she mused, acknowledging she likely had little contractual leverage as a teenager.
Despite the financial frustrations, Seyfried remains grateful for the film’s enduring legacy and fans who continue to embrace Mean Girls. “I love it,” she said, recalling a recent TSA agent who called the film her favorite.
Looks like Seyfried isn’t just asking, “So you agree?” — she’s demanding what’s fair.
