During his monologue on the February 3, 2025, episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, host Jimmy Kimmel humorously suggested that actor Will Smith could have redeemed his public image by slapping Kanye West at the recent Grammy Awards. Kimmel’s jest was in reference to West’s wife, Bianca Censori, who garnered attention for her revealing attire on the red carpet. Kimmel quipped, “Will Smith, all he had to do was run out on that red carpet and slap Kanye. I think all would be forgiven.”

This lighthearted remark alludes to the infamous incident at the 2022 Oscars, where Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock following a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Smith subsequently faced a ten-year ban from attending the Oscars.

Kimmel also commented on the evolving nature of public reactions to provocative attire, contrasting the current acceptance of Censori’s outfit with the controversy surrounding Janet Jackson’s 2004 Super Bowl performance. He noted, “Remember when the whole country melted down when one of Janet Jackson’s boobs popped out for a millisecond? Now a completely nude woman walks the red carpet at the Grammys … !'”

Kimmel’s monologue highlights the shifting dynamics of celebrity culture and public perception, using humor to reflect on recent events in the entertainment industry.
