Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion and NFL legend, is proving his influence extends beyond the field. As a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, Brady is reportedly playing a key role in shaping the franchise’s future—starting with its next head coach.
Brady initially appeared intrigued by the idea of reuniting with Mike Vrabel, his former New England Patriots teammate. However, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Vrabel didn’t entertain the notion of a move to Las Vegas, as he was intent on returning to the Patriots. While Vrabel didn’t confirm the details, he acknowledged that he and Brady had been in contact.
Pivoting to a New Target
Brady’s ambitions for the Raiders didn’t stall with Vrabel’s decision. ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported that Brady has now set his sights on Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, pitching him on a collaborative vision for building a winning program in Las Vegas.
The Raiders, under Brady’s ownership influence, have the potential to offer compelling reasons for Johnson to leave his current role in Detroit. The opportunity to work alongside one of the greatest players in NFL history—who understands the intricacies of building a championship culture—is undoubtedly a strong selling point.
Challenges and Opportunities in Las Vegas
The Raiders’ future remains uncertain as they continue a rebuild in one of the NFL’s most competitive divisions. But Brady’s involvement in the hiring process could signal a turning point for the franchise. Known for his ability to inspire teams to success, Brady’s presence alone could attract top-tier talent.
While it’s unclear how Johnson feels about joining the Raiders, or where Las Vegas stands in the hunt for its next coach, betting against Brady’s ability to secure his target may be unwise. After all, doubting Brady has rarely worked out well for his opponents.
A New Era in Las Vegas?
Whether it’s Johnson or another candidate, Brady’s hands-on approach signals his determination to help reshape the Raiders into a winning organization. With his leadership and vision, the Silver and Black could soon be on a path to reclaiming their storied legacy in the NFL.
