Slipknot 2025: New Album, New Drummer, and a Return to Raw Creativity

Slipknot fans, brace yourselves: a new chapter is on the horizon for the legendary metal band. For the first time, Slipknot is preparing to release an album without the shadow of Roadrunner Records looming over them. With this newfound freedom, the band seems poised to redefine their sound, and they’re bringing an exciting new element to the mix—new drummer Eloy Casagrande.

In a candid interview with Knotfest, percussionist and Slipknot visionary Shawn “Clown” Crahan revealed that the band is in the early stages of crafting their next record. While the album is currently in the demo phase, Clown shared insights into his mindset and the creative process fueling the project.

Clown’s Fresh Perspective

Clown is taking a philosophical approach to this album. “2025 I’m going to work on ‘No Complaining,’” he said, explaining his decision to let go of unrealistic expectations. “I realized my expectations are never going to be met. So I need to give myself a break… That way I can just float. Nothing will bother me. I can just work on positive potential.”

For Slipknot’s long-time percussionist, this record represents a clean slate, an opportunity to recapture the energy of starting anew.

Back to Their Roots

The band’s recent 25th-anniversary tour has sparked a wave of inspiration, particularly a desire to return to the organic, collaborative writing process that birthed their 1999 self-titled debut. Clown described the energy of rehearsing in a shared space, where ideas naturally ignite and evolve. “If we got our room and our shit’s going, someone’s gonna pop, everybody’s gonna join in. And if we go, ‘Oh, that’s good,’ that [song] will be done by the end of the night and then massaged over a month. And that’s the best way to write fucking Slipknot music.”

New Single on the Horizon?

Adding to the excitement is the mystery surrounding “Long May You Die,” a single Slipknot teased in May 2024. The track has yet to surface, leaving fans speculating whether it will be part of the new album or released as a standalone piece. Additionally, the long-anticipated Look Outside Your Window project—featuring unreleased experimental tracks recorded during the All Hope Is Gone sessions—remains in limbo.

A New Era Awaits

Slipknot’s next album promises not only to showcase the band’s creative evolution but also to integrate Eloy Casagrande’s thunderous drumming into their signature sound. With the band embracing their roots and pushing boundaries, fans can expect an era filled with innovation and intensity.

Now, it’s all about waiting—and hoping—that Slipknot delivers what they’ve been teasing.
