Bruno Mars and Rosé Top ARIA Chart as Holiday Hits Retreat

The holiday season may be over, but the music charts are still buzzing with fresh energy. As Christmas classics step aside, Rosé and Bruno Mars have stormed back to the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with their smash hit “APT.”—now enjoying its eighth non-consecutive week at No. 1.

The chart shake-up has paved the way for pop and indie stars to reclaim their dominance. Gracie Abrams’ “That’s So True” surged from No. 9 to No. 2, while Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ emotional duet “Die With A Smile” climbed 13 spots to No. 3—marking another impressive run after previously peaking at No. 2.

Billie Eilish and Shaboozey Rebound into the Top Five
Billie Eilish also continues her chart success, with “Birds of a Feather” flying from No. 19 to No. 4. The track had previously dominated the top spot for two weeks in August, proving its lasting appeal.

Meanwhile, Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” makes a triumphant return, jumping from No. 18 to No. 5. The viral summer anthem spent five weeks at No. 1 during July and August, and its resurgence underscores its enduring popularity.

Royel Otis Debuts with a Nostalgic Twist
Sydney indie-pop duo Royel Otis entered the chart at No. 47 with their cover of “Linger (SiriusXM Session)”, a modern reinterpretation of The Cranberries’ 1994 classic.

The Cranberries’ original “Linger” was a landmark hit, peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending 24 weeks on the charts. Known for its orchestral elegance and Dolores O’Riordan’s haunting vocals, it remains a staple of ’90s alternative rock.

Royel Otis’ cover arrives on the heels of their critically acclaimed 2024 album Pratts & Pain, which earned two ARIA Awards last November. The duo’s fresh spin on “Linger” blends modern indie vibes with a nostalgic touch, quickly resonating with listeners.

Sabrina Carpenter Dominates Albums Chart
Over on the ARIA Albums Chart, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet continues its reign, securing an eighth non-consecutive week at No. 1. Its standout singles “Espresso” and “Taste” have also re-entered the singles top 10, climbing to No. 8 and No. 10, respectively.

Ed Sheeran also enjoyed a boost, with his greatest hits compilation +–=÷× (Tour Collection) rising from No. 12 to No. 6—helped by the release of a limited-edition vinyl. The album, which peaked at No. 4 last October, features several of Sheeran’s chart-topping hits, including “Shape of You” and “Bad Habits.”

A Bright Start to 2025
With Rosé and Bruno Mars leading the singles chart and Sabrina Carpenter dominating the albums list, 2025’s music scene is off to a strong start. Whether it’s the chart-topping returns of established stars or exciting debuts like Royel Otis, the new year promises plenty of hits to keep fans listening.
