SOAD’s Return to the Stage
System of a Down has remained largely dormant since their 2006 hiatus, reuniting sporadically for festival runs and headline gigs. Despite years of speculation, there’s still no confirmation of a new album to follow 2005’s critically acclaimed Mezmerize and Hypnotize.

The band’s last new music, 2020’s “Protect the Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz,” was their first release in 15 years, fueling fan excitement for more studio work. However, no updates on their long-rumored sixth album have been announced.

Recent Performances
In 2025, SOAD headlined the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas and delivered a stunning after-dark performance at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park alongside Deftones, The Mars Volta, and Viagra Boys.

These upcoming stadium shows, featuring some of rock and metal’s biggest names, will be among the year’s most sought-after live events. Fans of SOAD and their iconic lineup — Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian, and John Dolmayan — will undoubtedly relish the opportunity to see the band alongside Korn, Deftones, and Avenged Sevenfold.
