Chocolate Brown is Fall’s “It” Color Trend

Fashion’s biggest color trend is undeniably chocolate brown. The dark, rich hue appeared in a myriad of fall/winter 2024 runway collections, from Bottega Veneta and Miu Miu to Ferragamo and Courreges, then made a number of prime appearances on the street-style set during Fashion Week.

As Harper’s Bazaar reports, at Bottega Veneta, Matthieu Blazy showed floor-grazing maxi dresses and smooth leather cocoon coats in the sweet cocoa shade. At Miu Miu, models sported chocolate-brown leather pea coats, handbags, and gloves, while at Courreges, they swapped out their LBDs for slinky, body-skimming dresses and bomber jackets the color of Toblerone.

The beauty in the chocolate brown trend lies in its versatility. It’s essentially a neutral that can be swapped in for black, gray, or white. And because it’s often found in heavy-duty fabrics like suede and leather, it will keep you warm while looking fresh. Whether you invest in a brown fall coat, upgrade your work bag in rich cocoa, or swap out your ballet flats for a pair of brown suede loafers, there are plenty of easy ways to tap into the trend, and countless outfit formulations. You can mix and match a chocolate brown jacket with your blue jeans, style it with a white t-shirt, or—even better—embrace the monochromatic look and wear it head to toe.
