Eric Church Tours Storm-Damaged North Carolina

Just days after raising nearly $25 million at the “Concert for Carolina,” country star Eric Church joined North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper in Banner Elk to survey damage from Tropical Storm Helene. Church, a native of Granite Falls, has deep ties to Western North Carolina and has committed to supporting relief and long-term recovery efforts in the region.

A Concert for Carolina
On October 26, Church and fellow North Carolina native Luke Combs organized a benefit concert in Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium, bringing together top acts like James Taylor, Sheryl Crow, and Keith Urban. Over 80,000 people attended the concert, which raised millions for storm victims. Church opened the show with a heartfelt rendition of “Hallelujah,” telling the audience, “I’ve never played a show closer to my heart.”

Proceeds from the concert will be distributed to local nonprofits, including Samaritan’s Purse, Manna Food Bank, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, as well as Church’s own nonprofit, Chief Cares.

“A Blueprint for the Blue Ridge”
During his tour of the storm damage, Church unveiled a major new initiative through Chief Cares: “A Blueprint for the Blue Ridge,” which aims to construct 100 homes for affected families in Avery County and nearby areas. Partnering with Clayton Homes, the project plans to place these homes on land acquired within the county. “Once we deliver the land to them, they’ll put 100 homes in Avery County in 100 days,” Church said, though specific details on construction timelines and family selection are still in development.

In addition to housing, “Blueprint for the Blue Ridge” aims to address other long-term needs, including job creation, school rebuilding, and small business support.

“Darkest Hour” Royalties Pledged to North Carolina
In a gesture that underscores his dedication to the area, Church announced that he’s donating the publishing royalties from his new song “Darkest Hour” to ongoing relief efforts in North Carolina. “This song goes to my home, North Carolina, now and forever,” he said, hoping the royalties will provide sustained support for recovery and rebuilding.

Through these initiatives, Church’s commitment to Western North Carolina promises to extend well beyond the immediate impact of Tropical Storm Helene, helping rebuild and strengthen the community he calls home.
