Tyler, the Creator, has never been one to hold back his thoughts—and Halloween night in Boston was no exception. While performing for his “30 Minutes of Chromakopia” tour, celebrating his latest album, Chromakopia, Tyler took a moment to address his ongoing clash with Taylor Swift’s fans, known as the Swifties, who have recently criticized him for lyrics about Swift in his earlier work.
Addressing the Swifties: Tyler joked with the crowd, calling out Swift’s fans for bringing up his controversial lines about her from past tracks. “I got Swifties all mad at me with their racist ass,” he quipped, referencing the backlash he’s received online. He brushed off the criticism, telling Swift’s fans to listen to his 2011 track “Tron Cat” if they wanted to understand his unfiltered style. Tyler’s mention of the Swifties likely stems from his recent lyrics mentioning Swift and his past provocative lines about her, found on songs like “Fish” and “Nightmare” from his 2011 album Goblin.
Tyler’s Relationship with Swift’s Fame: This isn’t the first time Tyler has referenced Swift. He’s been name-dropping her since 2011, and the mentions range from dark humor to edgy critiques. His recent comments also come shortly after Tyler briefly surpassed Swift as Spotify’s most-streamed artist, a position that no doubt amplifies the playful competition.
Chromakopia’s Inspiration and Listening Parties: Tyler released Chromakopia on October 28 and has since been hosting pop-up listening events across the country. In Los Angeles, he held a listening session at the Intuit Dome, where he shared that the album is deeply rooted in his experiences growing up. Reflecting on his career, he remarked, “I was like, ‘oh shit, nobody knows anything about me from before [I was 17].’”
Upcoming Tour: The Chromakopia tour will officially kick off in February, hitting major arenas across the U.S., including Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena and New York’s Madison Square Garden. The tour promises to showcase Tyler’s latest work while giving fans a glimpse into his musical evolution.
With Chromakopia, Tyler is not only celebrating his past but also cementing his position as a major figure in contemporary music—one unafraid to push boundaries and speak his mind, even if it ruffles a few feathers among Swift’s famously loyal fanbase.
