U2 Unveils “Shadow Album” to Mark 20th Anniversary of How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

U2 is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their iconic 11th album, How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, with the release of a “shadow album” titled How to Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb. This special project, dropping on Nov. 29, will feature 10 previously unreleased tracks from the original recording sessions.

Fans can look forward to never-before-heard songs like “Treason,” “Evidence of Life,” “Country Mile,” and “Happiness,” alongside “Luckiest Man in the World,” a track leaked years ago as “Mercy.” In addition, five remastered songs, including “Picture of You (X+W)” and “Are We Gonna Wait Forever?,” will be part of the release.

In anticipation, U2 has already shared the tracks “Country Mile” and “Picture of You (X+W).” The shadow album will be available in both physical and digital formats, with a special Black & Red Marble Vinyl edition releasing exclusively on Record Store Day.

The band will also drop a How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (Re-Assemble Edition) on Nov. 22, combining both albums. Fans can expect a variety of collectible formats, from vinyl to deluxe box sets. Reflecting on the project, the Edge described the sessions as a “creative period” filled with raw energy and deep introspection.
