Hoda Kotb, longtime anchor of NBC’s Today, has revealed her decision to step down from the morning show, with her final day set for January 1, 2025. Kotb, who has been a familiar face on Today since 2018 and a part of NBC News since 1998, will remain with the network in a new, yet-to-be-specified role.
Kotb announced her departure on-air, surrounded by her Today show colleagues, calling her time with the network “the longest professional love affair of my life.” She explained that turning 60 in August prompted her decision, adding that it felt like the right moment to “turn the page” and focus on her family, particularly her daughters, Haley Joy and Hope Catherine.
Over the years, Kotb has made history as part of Today’s first all-female anchor team alongside Savannah Guthrie and has been open about personal milestones, from her breast cancer battle to becoming a mother through adoption.
While she’ll be stepping away from the early mornings, Kotb hinted at potential new projects, including a focus on wellness. She will also continue her popular podcast, Making Space with Hoda Kotb, and remains an inspiring presence on social media.
