Tyga’s summer anthem “Taste,” featuring Offset, just reached a major milestone, becoming his first-ever diamond-certified track, as announced by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on Tuesday (Sept. 24).
To achieve diamond status, a song must move 10 million units, with each unit equivalent to one digital song sale or 150 on-demand streams. “Taste” has certainly earned its place with music fans.
“Taste just went diamond, 10x platinum,” Tyga shared with excitement on X (formerly Twitter), alongside a video of him receiving his RIAA plaque. He stood proudly next to EMPIRE CEO Ghazi and COO Nima Etminan. “Thank you to everyone that streamed it and twerked to it,” he wrote. The RIAA also celebrated the moment: “Get a #Taste of your first RIAA Diamond certification! Congratulations @Tyga on this incredible milestone!”
Offset, equally thrilled, shared his gratitude. “Man, this is big to me,” he wrote, reflecting on the accomplishment. He later added, “Went diamond today. God is good.”
“Taste” was the standout lead single from Tyga’s 2019 album Legendary, produced by D.A. Got That Dope. The hit peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and held the top spot on Rhythmic Airplay for four weeks, solidifying its place in pop culture.
Tyga is currently on the second leg of Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour.
