“The Wild Robot” Debuts to Rave Reviews: An Animated Classic in the Making

“The Wild Robot,” a new animated film starring Pedro Pascal, has made an impressive debut, achieving a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film features an all-star cast, including Lupita Nyong’o, Bill Nighy, Kit Connor, Matt Berry, Mark Hamill, Stephanie Hsu, Ving Rhames, and Catherine O’Hara. Directed by Chris Sanders, the story follows Roz, a shipwrecked robot who must adapt to her new surroundings by befriending the island’s animal inhabitants and becoming an adoptive parent to a baby goose.

Critics are hailing it as an instant classic. The Only Critic calls it “an instant animated classic,” while Awards Buzz praises the film for its adaptation of Peter Brown’s popular books, describing it as a “soaring cinematic experience” with beautiful animation.

Screen Rant adds, “It’s an uplifting, hilarious, gut-wrenching, and stunning animated adventure that reaffirms the power of a parent’s love.” IndieWire highlights the film’s appeal as “a warm little gem” and a blend of nostalgia and innovation. RogerEbert.com even suggests the film could be enjoyed without sound, calling it “one of the best animated films of the decade.”

“The Wild Robot” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is set for a theatrical release on September 27 in the US and October 18 in the UK.
