Elle King recently shared candid details about her challenging childhood as the daughter of Hollywood actor Rob Schneider. Speaking on BunnieXO’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast, the country singer described her father as “just not nice” and revealed they would often go years without speaking.
King, 35, reflected on the ups and downs of their relationship, noting that her father’s reaction to her success was far from supportive. “I put out my record, and people finally started asking about my dad,” she recalled. “My dad called me and said, ‘Don’t f—ing talk about me in the press.'”
She also recounted difficult experiences from her youth, such as spending summers on movie sets where she felt overlooked. “If I ever messed up a shot or was talking, I would get in f—ing trouble,” she said.
The “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer also opened up about being sent to fat camp as a child and hiding her tattoos from her father, who disapproved of any form of self-expression that didn’t align with his views.
King expressed her frustration with Schneider’s stance on various social issues, saying, “You’re talking sh– about drag and anti-gay rights… I disagree with a lot of the things that he says.”
When asked if Schneider ever tried to help her, King bluntly replied, “No, he never helped me. I never wanted his help.” She added, “He forgot about every single birthday.”
The conversation ended with BunnieXO expressing disappointment, saying, “You’re killing my fantasy of Rob here,” to which King apologized.
Representatives for Schneider have not commented on King’s remarks.
