Lainey Wilson is set to bring a soothing vibe to her upcoming album Whirlwind, with some help from a friend. On Friday, August 2, the 32-year-old singer-songwriter released her latest track, “Good Horses,” featuring fellow country star Miranda Lambert.
The song, co-written by Wilson, Lambert, and Luke Dick, and produced by Jay Joyce, explores the theme of love finding its way home, using the metaphor of free-roaming horses. The chorus resonates with this imagery: “I don’t need a map, I don’t need a road. I don’t need a fence, I just need to roam. If you wanna love me, you don’t need a rope. You just need to know, good horses come home.”
“Good Horses” is a gentle, acoustic-driven tune with harmonies that highlight the duo’s vocal chemistry. Wilson shared a stripped-down rendition of the song on Instagram, captioning it, “Good horses come home🐴.”
“I am so excited for everyone to finally be able to have their hands on this song. Writing with Miranda and Luke feels like home, and I will forever cherish the day we wrote this song,” Wilson said. “‘Good Horses’ is all about finding your way back home, no matter where you are.”
Lambert added, “’Good Horses’ is about all the people that love the comfort of home, but also need to be free. Lainey and I wrote this song at my farm with Luke Dick. Lainey is a genuine and authentic human. I love watching her dreams come true right in front of our eyes, and it’s so cool to be a little part of it.”
“Good Horses” is the fourth track released from Whirlwind, and the first collaboration from the album, which follows Wilson’s 2022 LP Bell Bottom Country.
