Queens of the Stone Age Cancel More Summer Tour Dates Amid Josh Homme’s Medical Treatment

Queens of the Stone Age have had to cancel additional summer tour dates due to frontman Josh Homme’s ongoing medical treatment. On Friday (July 26), the band announced the latest cancellations, following the earlier postponement of eight European dates in June when Homme returned to the U.S. for emergency surgery.

“Due to continued medical care, it is under doctors’ orders that Josh Homme remain in their care in the United States,” the band stated. “The Homme family and QOTSA are so grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and kind understanding during this time.”

The newly affected dates include several European festivals: Way Out West in Sweden (August 8), Oya Festival in Norway (August 9), Syd For Solen in Denmark (August 10), Cabaret Vert in France (August 15), Lowlands in the Netherlands (August 16), Pukkelpop in Belgium (August 18), and Vilar de Mouros in Portugal (August 21).

As of now, there is no further update on Homme’s medical condition, according to a spokesperson for QOTSA.

“Queens are gutted we aren’t able to play for you,” the group expressed in a previous statement announcing the cancellation of eight European dates. “We apologize for any inconvenience and share in your frustration and disappointment.” Prior to this, the band also had to withdraw from the AMA Music Festival preview on July 5 in Italy “due to illness.”

The band’s End Is Nero tour is expected to resume in the U.S. in September, with their next scheduled performance at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on the 27th.
