Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman joined forces on Wednesday to co-host Jimmy Kimmel Live, promoting their upcoming movie “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The 47-year-old Canadian actor and the 55-year-old Australian star entertained the audience with their playful banter while Jimmy Kimmel enjoyed a summer break.
Reynolds kicked off the solo segment, interviewing his good friend Jackman. Mid-interview, Reynolds was interrupted by a call from his wife, Blake Lively, creating a charming and humorous moment for the audience.
‘So sorry. One second. It’s Blake, it’s Blake,’ Ryan said to cheers from the studio audience in Hollywood. The couple’s candid interaction, with Blake playfully admitting she was bored, added a personal touch to the show. Reynolds showed his phone to the audience, with Blake waving, and then quickly ended the call, much to the amusement of the viewers.
The duo also shared an exclusive clip from their new movie, although Jackman humorously confessed, ‘I don’t know where I am. I don’t know anything,’ as the audience laughed.
Later, they were joined by their co-star Emma Corrin, who teased them about the best advice they had given her. Emma, who plays the supervillain Cassandra Nova, revealed that both Ryan and Hugh were particularly excited about her shaving her head, insisting she take a shower afterward. Reynolds explained, ‘When you shave your head and have a shower. Amazing, it feels so nice,’ which Emma agreed was a ‘full religious experience.’
“Deadpool & Wolverine” features Ryan as Deadpool and Hugh as Wolverine, with Emma’s character Cassandra Nova making her live-action debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film, which is Disney-owned Marvel Studios’ first R-rated superhero movie, was released on Wednesday in several countries including France, Germany, and Japan, and will be released in other countries like the UK and Australia on Thursday. It is scheduled to be officially released in the United States and China on Friday.
The first two “Deadpool” films were also R-rated and released by 20th Century Fox before Disney’s acquisition of the studio in 2019. The return of these beloved characters promises a thrilling and humorous adventure for fans worldwide.
