Sabrina Carpenter Dethrones Herself on Pop Charts and Has a Sassy Reaction

Sabrina Carpenter is facing off against her biggest rival: herself! On Sunday, June 30, the former Disney star reshared a Pop Crave post announcing that her hit song “Espresso” had taken over the top spot on the global charts. Carpenter, 25, had a hilariously sassy reaction to the news that she had dethroned her own song.

“This bitch,” Carpenter quipped on X (formerly Twitter).

Her fans joined in on the fun with equally humorous reactions. One fan account replied, “It’s so rude of her,” urging Carpenter to “FIGHT BACK.” Another joked, “Not a girls girl if u ask me.”

Carpenter has been on a career high over the past year. She opened for Taylor Swift during several legs of the Eras Tour in 2023 and achieved massive success with her singles “Please Please Please” and “Espresso,” both of which are featured on her upcoming album Short n’ Sweet, set for release on August 23.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Carpenter spoke about the overwhelming popularity of “Espresso.”

“My mom has been like, ‘Do you feel crazy right now?’” she said of the song’s success. “I just love that people get my sense of humor.”

She also humorously addressed the song’s catchy chorus, saying, “I decided to put that burden on other people.”

The track, which uses the coffee drink as a metaphor for infatuation, has even resulted in a collaboration on an espresso ice cream flavor with Van Leeuwen and earned praise from Adele.

“Please Please Please” is equally beloved. Carpenter’s friend Joey King playfully shared her thoughts on the song, saying, “It’s so rude of her to make a hit like that. It’s also so rude to make such an addicting music video,” referring to the video starring Carpenter’s boyfriend, Barry Keoghan. “It’s really rude to make me watch it six times at 2:00 a.m. when I want to go to bed.”

With her chart-topping hits and witty personality, Sabrina Carpenter continues to charm fans and dominate the music scene.
