Michael J. Fox Rocks Out with Coldplay at Glastonbury Festival

Michael J. Fox channeled his inner rock star during Coldplay’s headlining set at the Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. on Saturday, June 29.

“With his Chuck Berry riff and the way he punched Biff: ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox,” frontman Chris Martin announced, making a nod to Fox’s iconic role in Back to the Future, per Variety.

The actor, 63, joined the band for a performance of “Humankind” and then stayed on stage to play guitar during Coldplay’s hit “Fix You.” Fox, who has been open about his Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis since 1991, participated in the performance from a wheelchair, showcasing his enduring passion for music and performance.

Following the performances, Martin, 47, took a moment to express his gratitude to Fox for his impact on his career. “The main reason we’re in a band is because of Back to the Future,” Martin said, according to Variety. “So thank you to Michael, our hero.”

This isn’t the first time Fox has teamed up with Coldplay. In July 2016, he joined them on stage at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to perform “Johnny B. Goode,” the Chuck Berry classic featured in Back to the Future.

Coldplay made history at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, marking their fifth time headlining the event. Earlier in the night, the band also surprised the audience by bringing out rapper Little Simz to debut a new song. Martin’s fiancée, Dakota Johnson, was spotted watching the performance via a live stream from the event.

Fox’s appearance added a memorable touch to an already historic night, blending iconic film nostalgia with live musical celebration.
