Kesha Announces New Single “Joy Ride” Amid Feud Rumors with Katy Perry

Kesha has announced the release of her new single “Joy Ride,” set to drop on the Fourth of July, just days before Katy Perry’s upcoming track amidst controversy over Perry’s collaboration with Dr. Luke.

The “Tik Tok” singer, 37, shared the exciting news with her 3.3 million Instagram followers, posting a photo of herself posing next to a white Porsche convertible at a gas station. The sign behind her read “7.04,” indicating the release date, with the single’s title, “Joy Ride,” displayed prominently.

In the photo, Kesha flaunted her vibrant style in a red cropped top, fitted leggings, and opera-length latex gloves, completing the look with knee-high heeled boots and stylish shades. Her caption playfully referenced the 2004 film “Mean Girls”: “GET IN LOSER.”

Kesha also posted a montage video in which she wore a red micro miniskirt, a white cropped top, and over-the-knee black boots, all while posing with a vintage red convertible. The video ended with Kesha holding a sign with the track’s title, adding a touch of anticipation for her fans. A snippet of the new song played in the background, further fueling excitement.

Fans quickly filled the comment section with enthusiasm. One user wrote, “YES. FINALLY. THE QUEEN HAS RETURNED. THE WORLD IS HEALING,” while another added, “I know already this song is my song of the summer.”

Kesha’s new release comes shortly before Katy Perry’s track “Woman’s World,” which drops on July 11. The timing of “Joy Ride” seems to subtly jab at Perry, whose hit “Firework” is often popular around Independence Day.

The timing of Kesha’s release amid her rumored feud with Perry, stemming from Perry’s collaboration with Dr. Luke, adds another layer to the anticipation. The controversy surrounding Dr. Luke, who was accused of sexual assault by Kesha, has sparked significant backlash against Perry.

Despite the drama, Kesha appears focused on her new music and the future. She expressed her gratitude to her fans following the lengthy legal battle with Dr. Luke, saying, “I am so full of light and excitement for the beautiful things to come, for shows to play, and art to make to share with you all.”

“Joy Ride” releases on July 4, promising to be a summer anthem for Kesha’s dedicated fans.
