Marc Jacobs is Toting with Stephen Sprouse Once Again

Nearly 24 years after Marc Jacobs and artist Stephen Sprouse collaborated at Louis Vuitton, creating what’s still one of the most sought-after bags of the ’00s, the two are coming together once again, this time for the designer’s namesake label.

As Fashionista reports, even though Sprouse passed away in 2004, Jacobs was granted access to work with the late artist’s estate to bring his recognizable graffiti-style text to his brand’s signature Tote Bag.

The limited-edition style — which retails for $550 and is part of Marc Jacobs’ 40th anniversary celebration — features a quote from Sprouse that Jacobs found in his personal archive, printed all over in bright green: “Grant me the serenity to chill.”

At the time of the two’s original collaboration for Louis Vuitton, redesigning the logo of such an established and storied house was unheard of, making the success of the designs unprecedented. Louis Vuitton even re-issued the best-selling items in 2009.

To mark the brand’s four decades in business, it has brought in many of Jacobs’ friends and collaborators — such as Anna Sui, Pharrell Williams and Takashi Murakami — to design exclusive shoppable drops. The Tote Bag x Stephen Sprouse campaign stars Christy Turlington and Lil Uzi Vert (other longtime Jacobs associates), styled by Alastair McKimm and photographed by Nick Newbold.

The tote bag is available to shop now at Marc Jacobs Soho, Regent Street and Omotesandō locations, as well as at MarcJacobs.com.
