Twenty One Pilots are on the verge of achieving their first No. 1 on the U.K. albums chart with their latest release, Clancy. The Columbus, Ohio duo, consisting of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, are leading the midweek chart with Clancy, their seventh studio album. This achievement would mark the group’s fourth U.K. top 10 album, following the success of 2015’s Blurryface (No. 5), 2018’s Trench (No. 2), and 2021’s Scaled and Icy (No. 3).
The 13-track LP is gaining traction as the band prepares for a major tour, starting August 15 in the United States, with subsequent legs in Europe and Australia.
However, Paul Weller might pose a challenge to Twenty One Pilots’ bid for the top spot. His 17th studio album, 66 (Polydor), is close behind at No. 2 on the Official Chart Update. Weller, the former frontman of The Jam and The Style Council, has a rich history of chart success, with six solo U.K. No. 1 albums under his belt.
Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department (EMI) is expected to close out the U.K. top 3, slipping from 1 to 3. Sheffield rockers Bring Me The Horizon are also making waves with their latest release, Post Human: NeX Gen (RCA), forecasted to secure a No. 5 spot, marking their fifth U.K. top 10 album.
U.S. alt-rock band Wallows (Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters, and Cole Preston) could achieve a career-best with their third studio album, Model (Atlantic), entering at No. 10 on the chart update.
Other notable new entries in the top 40 include Manchester rapper Meekz (TRU at No. 12 via Meekz Music & Lifestyle), BTS star RM (Right Place, Wrong Person at No. 17 via Polydor), British breakout artist Niko B (dog eat dog food world at No. 20 via Believe Recordings), and American rock veteran Lenny Kravitz (Blue Electric Light at No. 27 via BMG).
The final rankings will be revealed when the Official U.K. Albums Chart is published on Friday, May 31.
