Luke Combs has just released his highly anticipated new single, “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma,” the lead track from Twisters: The Album, which will accompany the movie Twisters when it hits theaters on July 19. Written by Combs alongside Jonathan Singleton and Jessi Alexander, the uptempo country-rock song captures a persona’s fearless and adventurous spirit.
The song’s exhilarating production features Combs’ signature storytelling style. In the opening verse, he sings, “I keep chasin’ that same old devil down the same old dead-end highway / Ridin’ that storm runnin’ through my veins like a shot down tail-spun airplane / Scared of nothin’ and I’m scared to death / I can’t breathe then I catch my breath / But I keep chasin’ that same old devil down the same old dead-end highway.”
The chorus follows with a spirited declaration: “Ain’t no love in Oklahoma / Just the whistle of a long black train / You’ll know when it’s comin’ for ya / Ridin’ in on the wind and rain.”
The accompanying music video seamlessly blends stormy performance footage of Combs with clips from Twisters, adding a visual narrative to the song. Combs wrote the track specifically for the film, enhancing its connection to the movie’s themes of adventure and resilience.
