The Sick New World festival made a resounding return to the Las Vegas Festival grounds on Saturday, April 27, 2024, showcasing a stellar lineup of metal and alternative music titans. Headlined by System of a Down, who marked their first live performance in nearly a year, the festival was a celebration of both iconic and emerging musical talents.
System of a Down delivered a powerful set, reaffirming their status as masters of the genre. Joining them were the formidable Slipknot, fresh off a surprise gig in California, who continued to ride the high of their energetic performances. Another highlight was Knocked Loose, who introduced their new single “Suffocate” live for the first time with Poppy, adding an unexpected twist to their hardcore sound.
The festival also featured performances from a variety of other significant acts including A Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains, and Lamb of God, each bringing their unique flavors to the eclectic mix. The lineup was further enriched by the likes of Primus, Bad Omens (who also collaborated with Poppy and HEALTH), and the ethereal tones of Slowdive.
Emerging bands like Fleshwater, Sunami, and Zulu shared the stage with established groups, creating a vibrant atmosphere that catered to diverse musical tastes. With its impressive roster and dynamic performances, Sick New World 2024 proved once again why it’s a must-attend event for fans of heavy and alternative music genres.
