CMT pulled the video shortly after its release due to the backlash.
Aldean has since defended the song, stating that it does not contain any racial connotations and condemning the dangers of “cancel culture.” As Aldean steps back into the spotlight at the CMT Music Awards, hosted by Kelsea Ballerini, on April 7, the industry and fans alike will be watching closely.
