Ozzy Osbourne Takes a Stand Against Kanye West’s Unauthorized Use of “Iron Man”

Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne recently expressed his strong stance against Kanye West’s unauthorized use of Black Sabbath’s iconic track “Iron Man” in the song “Carnival,” a collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign featured on their album “Vultures.” Osbourne’s refusal to grant permission for the sample was rooted in a deep objection to West’s controversial statements and actions, emphasizing his commitment to fighting discrimination in all its forms.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Osbourne articulated his decision, highlighting the importance of not staying silent in the face of antisemitism and other forms of hate speech. “Well, nobody else would f***** do it, did they?” Osbourne remarked, pointing out his unique position in taking a public stand against West. He further elaborated on the necessity of addressing such issues, stating, “With the current state of affairs, you don’t need anybody starting people on discrimination of any kind. It’s wrong. It’s just wrong.”

Osbourne’s action reflects not only a personal boundary regarding the use of his music but also a broader ethical stance. He made it clear that he does not want his work to be associated with any form of discrimination, emphasizing the collective responsibility to speak out against harmful rhetoric. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges artists face in protecting their legacy while navigating the complex intersections of music, rights, and moral accountability.
