Britney Spears Extends Olive Branch to Justin Timberlake Over New Music

Britney Spears, the pop icon, recently took to Instagram to express her admiration for Justin Timberlake’s latest musical offerings, “Selfish” and “Sanctified.” Spears, who had a well-documented relationship with Timberlake ending in 2002, showcased a rare moment of public support towards her ex following the debut of his new tracks on “Saturday Night Live.”

In her post, Spears candidly apologized for any offense caused by her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” particularly to those she holds dear. She specifically highlighted her affection for Timberlake’s new song “Selfish,” describing it as “soo good,” and shared her amusement over Timberlake’s dynamic with Jimmy Fallon.

The post included a video snippet from Timberlake’s “The Tonight Show” appearance, where he and Fallon, accompanied by The Roots, performed a medley featuring the new single. Spears’ memoir had previously made headlines for its revelations, including a pregnancy with Timberlake and her subsequent abortion decision influenced by Timberlake’s reluctance to embrace fatherhood.

Spears’ gesture of goodwill arrives amidst her 2011 song “Selfish” climbing to the top of the iTunes charts, surpassing Timberlake’s similarly titled track. Timberlake’s upcoming album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” signifies his first major release since 2018’s “Man of the Woods.” In an interview with Zane Lowe, Timberlake reflected on offering a genuine perspective of his life in his new music.

This unexpected outreach by Spears not only highlights a sense of closure and maturity but also stirs excitement among fans for Timberlake’s forthcoming “Forget Tomorrow World Tour,” starting in April.
