Olivia Rodrigo recently delivered a captivating performance at her second NPR Tiny Desk Concert, this time featuring songs from her acclaimed sophomore album, ‘GUTS’. In a stark contrast to her first Tiny Desk appearance during the pandemic, Rodrigo performed live from NPR’s office, expressing awe at being in the iconic space.
The concert opened with an acoustic, high-energy version of “love is embarrassing”. Rodrigo’s performance was intimate and raw, showcasing her vocal prowess and emotional depth. She then brought in backup vocalists for the emotive tracks “vampire” and “lacy”, adding a layer of harmonic richness to the set.
The finale was a powerful solo rendition of “making the bed” on the piano, a song Rodrigo described as encapsulating ‘GUTS” central themes. Her performance was both vulnerable and commanding, leaving a lasting impression.
Fans of Rodrigo have much to look forward to, as she gears up for the 75-date GUTS World Tour beginning in February 2024. Tickets are currently available, promising more opportunities to witness her magnetic live performances.
