Slayer’s seminal 1983 debut album, “Show No Mercy,” is set to receive a grand 40th-anniversary celebration with a special vinyl reissue, courtesy of Metal Blade Records. This iconic heavy metal album, which paved the way for countless thrash bands, will be available in two distinct editions starting February 9th.
The deluxe edition includes a slipcase, the LP on striking “Gold Black Dust” colored vinyl, a turntable slipmat, a poster, replica show flyers, and a signing card, priced at $64.99. For the more ardent Slayer aficionados, a limited “Blood Filled” liquid vinyl variant, capped at 250 copies worldwide, features a visually stunning design that mimics blood-filled vinyl. This unique edition is priced at $199.99 and is expected to become a sought-after collectible.
Both versions benefit from a meticulous remastering by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony, using the original master tapes. “Show No Mercy” is revered for its groundbreaking fusion of NWOBHM riffs and aggressive energy, embodied by tracks like “The Antichrist” and “Die by the Sword.” This reissue not only celebrates Slayer’s legacy but also honors their influence on the black metal genre.
