It’s about time that Balenciaga got into the skiwear game, especially considering that oversized puffer jackets and icy cool shades feature heavily within the uniform. Now, the Paris-based label is gearing up to kit you out for the season of the slopes, through its first-ever Skiwear Collection.
As Hypebae reports, the collection will be comprised of technical garments, accessories and ski gear, and will feature thermal separates, protective outerwear, gloves, footwear and eyewear alongside ski gear like poles, packs and a snowboard. Crafted with Balenciaga’s distinctive design principles in mind, the collection utilizes the furthest advancements within the world of snow sports manufacturing, fusing together high-impact with apres-ski.
Designed with a foolproof layering system, the collection features a warming, wicking base layer, followed by a lightweight padded mid layer and completed by a membrane-bonded outer layer which boasts battery-saving device pockets, ventilation systems and ski pass sheaths.
Elsewhere, Balenciaga’s new skis and snowboards are crafted with mirror-polished Titanal for added precision, responsiveness and high-speed stability. The collection’s footwear offering lands in the form of the new Alaska Boot, arriving in leather, nylon and fake fur iterations complete with removable chains.
But if you plan on Balencskiing this winter, it ain’t gonna be cheap. Prices range from $495 for a Beanie to $2,850 for Ski Cargo Pants and $4,390 for a Ski Parka. You can shop the entire Balenciaga Skiwear Collection in stores worldwide and online on November 15.
