K-Pop Supergroup BLACKPINK has hired popular Japanese graphic designer and artist Verdy to be their Creative Director for their ongoing world tour. According to reports, Verdy has designed an “exclusive capsule collection” of merch to commemorate the next leg of the group’s almost year-long run of shows.
It’s not the first time these two have teamed up – in 2022 they collaborated for the listening party of the group’s then yet unreleased “Bornpink” album. This time around, Verdy will reportedly “create a world that merges his distinct artistic touch with Blackpink’s ultra-feminine aesthetic.” Previously, Verdy has collaborated with the likes of Instagram, Coachella, Levi’s and more.
Looking back at the designer’s previous works for his Tokyo-based label, Girls Don’t Cry, alongside Wasted Youth, it’s likely that his BLACKPINK designs will feature cartoon-inspired designs, particularly as the press image for his announcement pictures a cartoonized version of KRUNK, aka the mascot of BLACKPINK’s label, YG Entertainment.
Little else is known about what the collection will look like, but it appears that fans attending the next leg of the BORN PINK tour will find out pretty soon.
