Dua Lipa is Designing a Collection for Versace

The world knows Dua Lipa as a pop superstar releasing bop after bop. She’s also become a highly influential figure in fashion, even co-chairing this year’s Met Gala. So, naturally, now she’s trying her hand at design.

On Thursday, Versace announced that Lipa is co-designing a high summer collection with Donatella Versace, titled “La Vacanza” (which directly translates from Italian to “the vacation”).

In a statement, the Grammy winner said she and Donatella “have formed such a strong bond over the years,” and that the brand has supported her “since the very beginning of my career,” she said, adding, “for her to give me the honor of co-designing this collection and letting all my summer inspirations go wild has been a dream.”

According to Fashionista, Lipa a longtime friend of the house, often sitting front row at its shows and wearing it on the red carpet. She even made her runway debut for the Italian fashion house. A collaboration is more of a surprise, but it creates a riveting opportunity for both creatives to merge their visions.

“Working with Dua on this collection has been very exciting, and I love the dynamic between us,” Donatella said, in a press release. “Dua is strong, fearless and free and her creative vision is exceptional.”

Versace’s “La Vacanza” will debut on the runway in Cannes, smack-dab in the middle of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, on May 23. As soon as the show ends, the collection will be available to purchase in stores globally and online.
