Blink-182 fans are going to have to wait longer to see the band on their upcoming world tour, as Travis Barker needed to have surgery after injuring his ring finger during rehearsals for Blink-182’s reunion tour.
Lead singer Tom DeLonge shared via an Instagram post on Wednesday, March first, “This has been something we’ve been aiming to do for so long and we work so hard and we just kind of had one of those freak accidents that nobody saw coming, Travis needs to go in and have surgery on his finger and we have to get that well. We have to get that strong before we can do anything else. This is just so sad.”
DeLonge concluded by saying, “These were the biggest shows we ever played, These are some of the most important places in the world for a band this is like the pinnacle of our career was coming down and playing for you guys. So I really want you all to know, we are devastated and we plan to come back.”
Travis Barker initially stated his finger was injured on February 8th, on Twitter saying, “I was playing the drums at rehearsals yesterday and I smashed my finger so hard I dislocated it and tore the ligaments.” By the time February 27th came, Barker told fans he would need surgery as a result of the injury, and had said surgery on February 28th.
Blink-182’s world tour was originally set for a March 11th start date in Tijuana, Mexico, with more stops in Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Bogotà, Lima and more.
