University of Florida Basketball Fan Tossed Out For Wrapping Arm Around Player’s Neck

On Wednesday, a fan of the University of Florida Gators was ejected from the game against the university of Kentucky after he wrapped his arm around a Wildcat player’s neck during the second half of the game.

When Kentucky’s Cason Wallace attempted to save a ball from going out of bounds and one of the courtside fans at the Arena, sporting a Gators shirt, stood up and put his arm out. His arm ended up wrapping around Wallace’s neck and the game was stopped.

Head coach for Kentucky, John Calipari was infuriated on the sideline as referees discussed what occurred. The play was reviewed and showed the events that took place. One of the ESPN announcers stated, “That is inexcusable, That’s an easy call. That guy is gone. …That guy should never come to another game.” “No, never,” his broadcast partner replied. “And in the SEC, not just on this campus. That’s as bad as you can act as a fan. … Absolutely unacceptable.”

The fan and his friends were then escorted out of the arena and attempted to hype up the crowd to which one of the announcers stated, “No, don’t ask for applause. That’s not the right response. You were wrong and you need to leave.”

The Wildcats ended up taking the win for the night with a 82-74 victory. Wallace, the player affected by the fan, finished the game with eight pints, six assists, and two rebounds.

The game was deadlocked at 50 apiece with 13:47 left in the second half, but in the end the Wildcats picked up a road conference win, 82-74.

Wallace, who played 38 minutes for Calipari, finished the game with eight points, six assists and two rebounds.

Elsewhere, earlier this month at a matchup between Mississippi Valley State and Alabama A&M, a cheerleader confronted a player on the court after he impeded on her stunt during his inbounds pass. Needless to say, the cheerleader was ejected for doing so.
