T-Pain has just revealed that he is going to be releasing a covers album, titled, On Top of the Covers, on March 17th via Nappy Boy Entertainment. The album will contain seven tracks, including Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” and Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life,” in addition to modern songs such as Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me.”
In a statement made about the abum, T-Pain said, “This covers album has been years in the making. I started recording this right after I won The Masked Singer, It got put on hold for a bit but now that I’m independent, I’m able to do whatever I want to do through Nappy Boy Entertainment and this is something I’ve felt strongly about for a long time.”
T-Pain added that, “These songs are not what you’d expect when you hear that T-Pain is doing a covers album and that is what I think is cool about it.”
T-Pain will also be celebrating the release through two back to back performances in Los Angeles, California on March 17th and 18th. The shows are called, An Intimate Evening With T-Pain and will include tracks off of the covers album as well as tracks from his catalog.
Tickets for the performances will be on sale at tpain.com, starting on February 17th.
