Fred White, the former Earth, Wind & Fire drummer, passed away on January first at the age of 67 years old. Fred’s brother Verdine White posted on Instagram sharing pictures of his brother. The post reads, “He was the wonderful bro that was always entertaining and delightfully mischievous! and we could always count on him to make a seemingly bad situation more light-hearted. He will live in our hearts forever, rest in power beloved Freddie!! We thank you all for your love, blessings and support at this time.”
Freddie, was born in Chicago on January 13th, 1955, and began playing the drums when he was nine years old. He was only 16 when he played on Donny Hathaway’s gold-selling Live album in 1971. He also played with Albertina Walker, Willie Hutch, and on “Spanish Moon” from Little feat’s, Feats Don’t Fail Me Now, from 1974, before joining Earth, Wind & Fire the next year. White was a big part of the band’s most successful years that included albums such as, That’s The Way Of The World, All n’ All, I Am, and Faces.
