The Houston Texans, ConocoPhillips, Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and Ashley all awarded $400,000 through the Inspire Change Grant Fund to 15 local nonprofits including She Is A CEO and Black Girls Do Engineer. The recipients celebrated at reception at NRG Stadium today with Texans president Greg Grissom, Vice President of the Texans Foundation Hannah McNair, Texans players and Texans Legends.
McNair stated, “We know it takes all of us to inspire change, and we’re honored to support these incredible leaders as they work to create opportunities across our community, Each organization’s commitment to Houston is unique and special, and we’re proud to help them continue to make a positive impact on the next generation.”
$25,000 was awarded to the She is a CEO Foundation, that encourages entrepreneurship, builds self-esteem, independence, and the love of charity for young girls and women. The funds will primarily be used to sponsor deserving girls to participate in the upcoming Entrepreneurship Academy and Pitch Competitions and provide scholarships and seed investments into each of the first small businesses.
An additional $25,000 was awarded to Black Girls Do Engineer, that aims to give access, awareness and advocacy for Black girls aged 6-21 so they can pursue S.T.E.M. The funds given will also be used to support BGDE’s College Prep and Training Program, that is aimed towards young women in grades 9-12.
