On Sunday, November 27th, a previously unheard song, “New Friends” plays during a scene that features Jamie Dutton and Sarah Atwood at a bar. The song plays in the background so that it doesn’t entirely drown out the audio of the scene, and Wilson made sure everyone knew it was her track through posting about it on social media.
Wilson wrote, “Who tuned in for @yellowstone episode 4?? Surprise! I had another new song hiding in tonight’s episode when Jamie and Sarah were flirting at the bar.” Since then, Wilson has released the full track as well as adding it to her latest album, Bell Bottom Country. The song has Wilson finding her way after a breakup. Coming to the conclusion that she needs to change things up and get some new friends.
This wasn’t the first time that Wilson had her music on Yellowstone. Wilson had previously performed an unreleased track called “Smell Like Smoke” in Episode three of Season Five as her character, Abby. Three other track of Wilson’s were used back in Season three, “Small Town Girl,” “Straight up Sideways” and “Workin’ Overtime” have all been featured in various episodes.
