Titus Andronicus just announced a 2023 North American tour to support their album, The Will to Live. They also decided to share a new holiday single titled, “Drummer Boy.” After the tour starts in Pittsburgh on February 28th, the band will perform in Chicago, Los Angeles, Vancouver, San Francisco, DC, and others before ending in Brooklyn on April 8th. Tickets for their tour will be on sale starting Friday, November 18th at 10 a.m. local time through Ticketmaster.
The bandleader Patrick Stickles stated that he “connected the dots” about Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” with the Christmas song “The Little Drummer Boy” years ago but, “it got tossed onto the pile with so many of my other crazy ideas.” The band just took two days in Montreal to “grab the reindeer by the antlers and cross this one off the list, so as to avoid the pain of eternal regret. I’ve noticed a lot of discourse recently about what constitutes a legitimate ‘parody’ lately, and I’d like to get a piece of that action.”
