On December third, SZA is returning to Saturday Night Live as the musical guest, she will be performing during an episode hosted by Keke Palmer. It will be the first time Palmer has hosted SNL as she shared her excitement to Instagram saying, “I can’t wait!! The stage awaits @nbcsnl.” While the last time SZA appeared and performed on SNL was December of 2017 to promote her album, Ctrl.
SZA also honored her Ctrl. album in June with a special deluxe edition that included seven unreleased songs. SZA tweeted at the time, “This is JUST a gift for camp ctrl . Nothing more nothing less . if u family you get it . 5 yrs is a long time . Thank you for changing my life I love you . Happy anniversary 🤍 #HAPPYCTRLANNIVERSARY.”
SZA also had “I Hate U” nominated for The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award at the 2022 Soul Train Awards. She is also nominated for Best R&B/Soul Female Artist. She also has two nominations at the 2022 American Music Awards, including Favorite R&B Female Artist and Favorite R&B Song.
As for Palmer, she starred in a historical thriller, Alice, based on actual events of an enslaved woman escaping to freedom after living under a harsh master in rural Georgia. During the Summer Palmer also was in Jordan Peele’s Nope. Her appearance in Nope, got her two nominations at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, with Female Movie Star of 2022 and the Drama Movie Star of 2022.
